We did it years ago. Start with your school secretary. They should be able to help and/or direct you to the right person for your district. Also check with your FRS for any union tips, warnings, etc.

Yes. I agree with haha. If you receive LQA, I think there is something about making sure you are in a pay status at least one day each pay period. So a sick day each pay period would work. I think. Please verify.

Thank you! Actually thinking about lwop as a way of getting out of our current location. In that case I can't be in pay status, not even a day, I assume. Do I have to fully resign? If I resign I have no rights to return to my current position if nothing else pans out, correct? Is there any poc for these rather specific questions? Thanks again!

A union rep in my area said LWOP hasn't be granted for a CONUS teacher in well over a year- not sure if it's true or not. Also if you take LWOP, you are supposed to be placed back in a position in your current location, unless you are following your spouse who is PCSing to a new location.
