I have several questions regarding leave without pay. Is there anyone here who has experience/ information regarding this? Or an official point of contavct who is knowledgeable about it and can possibly help us getting the process started. Thank you!
haha We did it years ago. Start with your school secretary. They should be able to help and/or direct you to the right person for your district. Also check with your FRS for any union tips, warnings, etc.

HelpOthers Yes. I agree with haha. If you receive LQA, I think there is something about making sure you are in a pay status at least one day each pay period. So a sick day each pay period would work. I think. Please verify.

emma20 Thank you! Actually thinking about lwop as a way of getting out of our current location. In that case I can't be in pay status, not even a day, I assume. Do I have to fully resign? If I resign I have no rights to return to my current position if nothing else pans out, correct? Is there any poc for these rather specific questions? Thanks again!

Icanread A union rep in my area said LWOP hasn't be granted for a CONUS teacher in well over a year- not sure if it's true or not. Also if you take LWOP, you are supposed to be placed back in a position in your current location, unless you are following your spouse who is PCSing to a new location.
