Military members do it all the time and some DoDEA members have done it with orders. It may depend on the country though. If you can get an official passport that would be better, but don't give up your tourist passport to apply for the official one. You can apply for them now and have them sent to a trusted person to mail them to you. That may be easier than trying to get them while you are overseas.

So when the foreign immigration official has questions, instead of sliding your official, no-fee, red passport across the counter, a person should show them the email from the person in HR?
