But the country you go to may have some societal norms. In Japan, there are certain off-base pools and beaches where you must cover your tattoos.

Thank you for the info! My district has no issues with tattoos, but I know that some places require you to cover them with clothing, bandages or make up. I'm headed to Okinawa so I was hoping they were a bit more laidback in terms of my workplace.

I am in Okinawa too. It shouldn't be a problem at your workplace, but you may have to cover up at certain off-base places. Tattoos in Japan are associated with Yakuza, the organized crime organization here.
