What happens if I resign after 1 year? I am in Europe, and I am not sure this position is for me. Just want to fully understand what I will have to pay back. Thanks for any info.

Woodsie Ms. C, I just want you to know that you are not alone. I also came from a very good district and a state with a great pension, etc. I did this because I wanted to keep teaching and also get some travel in. This experience is far from great. I am not in a supportive school and the resources in my school are abysmal. Just know you are not alone.

haha @Ms. C: I guess it's lucky for DoDEA (and unlucky for most teachers) that the vast majority of teachers in the states are not teaching in districts that have all of those things. Hang in there and good luck.

uh89 To Ms. C, the teacher I wrote about knew very quickly that she did not want to stay at her position for the entire two years, by the first week of October in her first year she knew. uh89 To Woodsie: If you complete your 2 years and give ample notice before any deadlines, you will definitely be able to get your way paid back to the states from where you shipped out originally along with your belongings subject to the same weight limits you had when you moved to your duty station.
