Agreed. You can be assigned to any class/subject area on your certificate, regardless of "seniority". Some teachers (especially in elementary) get moved grade level and/or classroom every year.

Yes within the school, not excessing. This would be a grade level change. There is talk that I would be the one moved because I was last in the building. Is that how decisions within a building are made? Not based on how long you've been with DoDEA? Or are decisions not dependent on either of those factors?

@IsItFriday surely there are some guidelines on who gets moved to a different grade level. In my experience, the principal first asks for a volunteer. After that, I'm not sure how it's determined if two teachers have the same certs but one has more years at the school vs the other with more years in DoDEA.

As we said, teaching/grade level assignments are entirely within the discretion of the principal.
