LOL... I think this is one of the reasons they would really like to merge the two entities -- to make the paperwork easier all around.... At least it would make it easier for the internals who are transferring....lol

My paperwork was limited. I think I did scan/email about 30 pages back to HR, but it didn't seem like a ton in the grand scheme of things. It was definitely more than when I was hired overseas as a local hire in 2013 and back into DDESS in 2016, both while on LWOP, though.

I received that paperwork as well, but I was told I would have an opportunity to fill that out (along with health insurance stuff) when I arrive. I hope they have someone to walk me through it, it's all new to me and I need a little help making sense of it all.

My HR rep is not very responsive so I contact her about 2-3 times a week until I get a response. Hooefully, I'll get the e-QIP access soon. Thanks ladies!

It's really interesting to read about how things work in other states. I never realized how early some have had to sign contracts. I am in FL and at least in my county we don't sign until our pay for the year is determined. Which used to be late because the union and district hadn't reached an agreement but now is even later because we have to wait...See More

Janie, in my previous district we signed contracts in April. It makes it difficult for teachers to find a better job. For me, because there's a shortage, I knew I'd wait because there would be a job. Maybe it wouldn't have been exactly what I wanted, but it's not a problem getting a job during a shortage!

Can't comment on Stuttgart specifically but in Germany in general you will have a lot of options. Vet preference is only considered when hiring INTO an organization. If you are already in the organization, in this case DoDEA, Vet preference is no longer considered.

I have heard/read (don't have the regulation) that you can only use the vet preference once when applying for federal positions. I don't know this for certain or the exact details but I would suppose that with DoDEA covering CONUS and OCONUS schools you can only claim it once.
