Hi all. Just wanted to say thank you so much for all the information this board provides. I was hoping this would be my year...it's year three for me. Well, unfortunately, no calls came and I had to accept a non-DOD position at the beginning of July (for the sake of my family). AFTER accepting that position, I got 2 calls for interviews with the DOD. That made me VERY sad...but I can't break a newly signed contract. I think my DOD dreams are over. Keep up the good work helping others!!!!
haha Obviously you did what you felt was right but I still can't help thinking you should have taken the interviews and taken the process as far as you could. Receiving an offer from DoDDS is a once in a lifetime opportunity (for most of us, although some seem to strike gold several times) and many schools/districts/principals would be understanding or ...See More

I am in FL and at least in my county we don't sign until our pay for the year is determined. Which used to be late because the union and district hadn't reached an agreement but now is even later because we have to wait...See More

SandArt Janie, in my previous district we signed contracts in April. It makes it difficult for teachers to find a better job. For me, because there's a shortage, I knew I'd wait because there would be a job. Maybe it wouldn't have been exactly what I wanted, but it's not a problem getting a job during a shortage!
