I'm currently working on the "Planning and Teaching Analysis" section of the written commentary. The guiding questions say, "What overall writing goals are addressed by these two writing assignments?"

I had a common goal for both the expository and narrative pieces which was... "My overall writing goal was for each student to correctly use the writing process to score an 80&37; or higher on both the expository and narrative writing rubrics."

I plan on getting into the specific concepts that were assessed during the "instructional objectives" section, but I'm concerned this goal is too vague.

So I'm asking... Do I need to explain the different rubrics here, or is the goal I have enough for this section?

What Works Chelsea, goals usually are broader, more general, and yes, vaguer than objectives. Goals aren't always measurable. They often contain the words, "The students will understand ___." The objectives are narrower, more specific, and are measurable. Learning the objectives help the students achieve the goals. Objectives are often worded, "...See More
