For component 4 I am thinking about creating a profile on a group of 4th-6th grade students in a special needs class that I teach as an Adapted PE class. My question is about the summative assessment--can the assessment be performance of a skill or activity? For example, some of the major needs for these students include improving bilateral coordination, balance, strength, and endurance. Can I make a goal relating to performance of a certain skill relating to one or more of those needs and use a summative assessment that is based on observation of the skill performance? Does the summative assessment have to be something the students complete on paper? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.
