When my kids take an ar quiz, they have a choice of selecting "Read To" or "Read Independently". Can someone tell me what the difference is? Is one quiz harder than the other? I always have my kids choose Read Independently but, they actually read the book to their parents, so I am wondering if I should have them choose Read to, instead. Thanks for your help!

Ima Teacher I forgot to mention that the tests are the same. It's just another way for the teacher to track a child's progress.

I notice that some of my kids make perfect scores on anything read to them, but they can't read anything by themselves and make any sense of it. I'm the opposite. I "tune out" oral reading or books on tape. I have to see the...See More

Tracy/1st Thank you for explaining it - I get it now. I was thinking the read to was the child reading it to a parent, but I get it now. Thanks >
