I am the librarian and am stymied with the parameters set forth by some teachers with regard to what books can be checked out. A couple of teachers insist on ‘chapter books’ which regulates the non-fiction books to obscurity since many of their size and thickness do not resemble the fatter, smaller ‘chapter’ fiction books. Can someone point me to so research or articles (I am not trained with AR per say) especially if promoted by AR which stipulates that thwarting student choices in this way detriments the overall value of the program?
Obviously-- Obviously those teachers do not have training either. If they did, they would know that is an unacceptable practice.

Push for training for the teachers who use the program. Otherwise, it will never be used correctly.
