I lost my position as a Business/Computer teacher after being with a district for 10 years. I now have an interview for a Computer Information Systems teacher at our regional vocational school. My question is: do I REALLY need to put together a portfolio? Truthfully, I thought my job was secure and job-seeking has been a shock to me, and with 3 young kids at home, I really do NOT have time to create one! It really is not a highly competitive field in our area and I am a great interviewee (if those make any difference!)
Caskeyteched Charity, At this time i would say yes. There is going to be a lot of competition for jobs even if it is only a vocational school. My Advice-Take the weekend to create a quick Powerpoint that shows off everything that you have done for the past 10 years. Bring your laptop with you to the interview and wow them.
