Elementary Computer lab

I am starting a new program at our elementary school. It's a compuer lab for grades 2-5. Am in need of ideas or lesson plans (if you don't mind sharing them). I need to follow the TEKS in my planning. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Steve Lee Ignacio This summer I finally organized my K-5 computer class lesson plans on my website. There are lessons / projects for Word, Excel, PPT, Graphics, etc. Many are intergrated into classroom curriculum, but there are a lot of standalone lessons too. Have a look: [link removed]

Computer Lab Lady In 4th grade, I have a deck of notecards and each card has a state on it. They draw a card, and then research that state. I give them a list of things they need to find like state bird, song, and a few interesting facts. After they've collected all this info, they create a poster in MS Word. I give them a list of things they need to find like state bird, song, and a few interesting facts. After they've collected all this info, they create a poster in MS Word. Or they could do a brochure, or a powerpoint. That's up to you. We use Word a lot because they're familiar with it. Another project we do in 4th grade is research a vacation destination (somewhere they want to go). Then they can either create a postcard or a brochure in MS Publisher. They had a lot of fun with this last year. In 5th grade, we have researched the 7 Wonders of the World. Then they pick one they are interested in and create what I call a "Facts Poster" where it includes facts about the Wonder they chose. Again, you could have them do a PowerPoint or something else. I also introduce MS Excel to them in 5th grade. I buy the snack-size M&M's (or you can use Skittles) over the holidays. Then each student gets a snack-size bag. We document how many of each color we had and the total. Then we create graphs using this info. The kids LOVE this activity!! Hope these suggestions are helpful! Mary Your site is awesome! I often look for sites of computer teachers to contain some thought, and most don't.
