Talking with a teacher the other day I was surprised to be told that she would work without a lunch break (kids get to eat but she has to work supervising them). No planning time or bathroom breaks either.

I was dumfounded! I couldn't imagine working 8 hrs with no time for eating or elimination but she said that school had been operating that way for 17 years.

I checked and found out it's true! Along with the fact that it's not required to have a bathroom/rest break either!

Further you can be worked 12 days in a row with no rest the law does not provide that the rest must be given every 7 days. For example, an employer may legally schedule work for 12 consecutive days within a two-week period if the days of rest fall on the first and last days of the two-week period.

The “One Day of Rest” Law exempts certain specific employment in factories and commercial establishments from coverage. The department can explain to you which jobs are exempted....See More
