Disruptive students can be difficult to deal with. However, I have come up with a plan that seems to have worked this year. I have students pair up with another student. I make sure that the pairing is complementary for each student. Whenever a student decides to make a scene or disrupt the class-their partner works with that student (of course this is only when it is safe for that to be done). The most successful pairs will be rewarded weekly as encouragement to coninue good and productive behavior. This has made my classroom much more pleasant and successful place for all students to learn.
