I've been wondering if there was a way to include the site, and sites like it, sparnotes.com into a lesson, but in a way that can aid the understanding of the students and also make them aware that you can't just rely on the site. With the rate of technology increasing everyday, cheating is also becoming much easier, and in English classes quite the norm. I just wanted to get input from other teachers to deal with this problem, but incorporate these sites appropriately. Thank you for any insights or ideas.
Erin I once read a teacher suggestion that you hand out the Sparknotes to the students on quiz day, then ask the students to tell you three things (or whatever number) that are in the book and not the Sparknotes! On occasion, I have written questions that are specifically not covered in Sparknotes for quizzes.

Dr. Saum K. Nour It is impossible to argue with your question. As teacher, I have to be above these sites to challenge the HS kids. Copy and paste has become norm. Two ministers in the German cabinets resigned because their thesis were plagiarized.

I am working on ACT/SAT questions that are not boiler plate and to challenge kids for higher status.

Lisa Gleeditions.com has a nice site that helps students, but also encourages them to engage with the text. You might want to see if they have a text you're teaching.
