Basically in my "family" (we have a very open small family, but we have a lot of definitively unrelated family members), or any other time I'm invested in a youngling's problem solving abilities really... I teach them to solve for x with single digit numbers, I've probably done this with about 30 kids now never had any major problems with introducing the concept (a few were a little hung up on when I gave them a problem that already looked solved).
I don't as much about the other kids, but I know that my little brother has really benifited from being able to do this kind of abstraction this early as opposed to just having to guess the password ( [link removed] ).
Please post your thoughts on Fundations! Thanks
