need a good read aloud suggestion for space unit

We are ready to start a new chapter read aloud book when we come back from winter break. We are also beginning a unit on the solar system. Does anyone have an idea of a fiction chapter book that would appropriately fit into my new unit? Thanks

My school system is implimenting new project based learning units this year and in the years to come. One of the units will be on dinosaurs. That seems like a preschool/ kindergarten topic. Am I wrong? Do any of you teach dinosaurs in first grade?

dan4thgr This site has some non-cutesy activities to do if you do indeed go ahead with dinos. There are a lot of paleontologists out there who would dispute dinos being just for 5 year olds.

OP Thanks dan4thgr. I will check out this site. It isn't only that I think dinos belong in prek or k but they are not on our current set of standards so I am not sure why we will now be teaching them.

I used to write stuff on the board to start the day, like so many others. I just was surfing through scholastic.com and found

scholastic.com/teachers/daily-starter/teacher

that has a bit of LA, math, and daily thought for every day of the year, by grade level. No more writing for me.

I am using the houghton mifflin reading program. There is a lot to cover and I am wondering if anyone uses the program and what their dailly plan looks like. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
