I am just curious how word work looks in your classrooms. We did Daily Language review this year during second semester last year and I would like to build a word study block (10-15 minutes) in it's place.

Since our kids come in knowing their letter sounds (most of them, fingers crossed), I was hoping to focus on magic e, bossy r, and word families. One or two per week. Does anyone have a schedule set up they would be willing to share? I would appreciate any help. Thank you!
jo/ma In September, we start with a consonant review, then move on to the short vowels and cvc words. Then we add consonant digraphs, then consonant blends. From January-June, we add silent-e, several vowel teams (ow, ee, ea, ay/ai, oo, oy/oi, oa, the r-controlled vowels, compound words, some contractions and word endings (s, ed, ing).

Jessie Before working on the bossy r and magic e, I would review consonant and vowel sounds; then cvc words, next digraphs (th, sh, wh, ch)at the beginning and ending of words.
