Chapter Books

I'm moving from 3rd to 1st and was wondering about how many chapter books I should have in my classroom library. The books I'm inheriting from the previous teacher do not include any chapter books. I'd say I have maybe 10% chapter books. Do I need more? What are some popular titles besides Magic Tree House and Junie B.Jones (which were popular with my 3rd graders)

corinne/ny You probably only need a few. Most children come in as non readers or reading at a beginning level...DRA 3 or 4 is just about average. Of course, some explode later. Once in a while you might get a few readers, but often the comprehension needs work.
