I'm being moved from 2nd to 4th

Here's my story. I have been a K - 2nd grade teacher for 33 years. I love the little ones and parents are constantly requesting me. I just found out today that my principal is moving me to 4th grade. This is not my choice and he basically told me too bad. He has no social or people skills to begin with. Needless to say I am devasted and can't imaging what I am going to do with the $1000's and $1000's of family money I have spent over the years for books, etc. Can anyone tell me if anything I have can still be used in 4th grade? I am in total shock and feel as though my teaching career is over. I can't beleive that I will need to start over. There are 2 other 4th grade teachers, but one has 2 little children at home and the other one is all about paper, pencils and test scores Thanks for letting me vent. If anyone has ever gone through this, I would love to hear from you.

LS Fourth-grade is awesome! Keep your mind open and look at this move as a chance to learn something new. You can delve deeper into comprehension through chapter books. Fourth- graders are so eager to learn! Just start looking over the standards now so you'll feel better prepared.

dan4thgr Consider it a gift move. Fourth graders are a wonderful mix of kid fun and independence. You will also have a couple of years with your past second graders moving through your room. Parents will be glad to see you again.
