Kids turn homework in by placing it in a big basket. It seems that somebody is always saying, "But I turned it in!" so now I am looking for a better solution to having them take ownership in the process (and making it easier for me.)

Any suggestions?

thanks so much, Barb

C My grade level is departmentalized. We check h.w. in the morning. The students come to me in the morning with their h.w. and I will simply place a check mark by the subject-Reading, L.A., Math, Social Studies, Science, and Health if turned in or an x if not. At the end of the week, I total the hw assigning 25 points each for the check mark(Tuesday-...See More

Barb I have a daily hw monitor who checks over hw to make sure complete and has to write down reason why if not turned in. At end of week I give behavior/ hw note to take home and just look over the chart that was filled out all week.

Since I give two assignments nightly I place a slash through the box to tell me which one was completed if they only turned in one. Reading on top half, math on bottom. It is visible to the clas...See More

teaching teacher I make it easy on myself. When students come in first thing in the morning, they place the homework in the corner of their desks. I have one student in charge of collecting homeworks each day.

I make copies on the class list. The homework collector collects the papers (in ABC order, by students' last name). As he/she collects each one, the...See More
