ushy overbearing parents produce pushy kids!! I have a kid in my class that is always one step or several steps ahead of me---it's very irritating!!!

I think it makes me appear to the other kids that I am not organized or have a handle on what is going on. He comments often "This is boring! We already learned this."

Today, I planned on checking on some details of a field trip we are going to take---he said "why haven't you told us when we are getting back from the field trip? My mom wants to know".

If there is ever a mistake on my part, say a math problem answer, he's always the first one to call attention to it.

Any advice or helpful suggestions are appreciated.
Robin Tzucker Have you talked to him privately? When I have had students like this, I have always pulled them aside privately for a little chat. I do this at recess or another time when we're not going to be overheard (I don't want the kid acting out to get attention from others or being embarrassed in front of others).

mbteacher This is common in many classrooms. I have observed this same situation in classrooms before and have heard the same comments from colleagues. This child may need more of a challenge in your classroom. Often times, students who claim to be board and that they have already learned the material, are not receiving a challenge in the class.
