I think we should see if Novel will host a Downton Abbey party. I find it unfair that the new season starts on Sept. 20 in England and we have to wait until Jan. 3.
In mourning. Only the Christmas episode to go. Sunday's was an hour and 40 minutes long (with advertisement breaks), and it was emotionally draining for at least the first 50 minutes. I rang my mother during a break to ask if we could cope with carrying on! Fortunately, things improved. Be warned.

Today, October 11, is Bob Reap's daughter's birthday. Alaina Beth Reap is 8 years old today. Reason I remember this is my granddaughter has the exact same birthday and year. Might want to wish her a Happy Birthday on the main board. Take care all of you. I miss you very much. xoxo ~Cher~
I am at home with my leg in a boot having broken three bones in my ankle at work going on for 9 weeks ago. I don't yet know when I'll be returning to work, but it's getting closer. For the first 6 weeks I was on a knee scooter because I was non-weight-bearing. That took me up to the end of third term. Since the beginning of the holidays I can now walk using crutches and am rapidly moving towards a single crutch and sometimes no crutch for a few steps inside the house. I prefer the ones that encircle my forearm rather than the traditional crutches.
I have certainly not been house-bound. My husband has been made redundant so he is available to take me places. "Come on, lets go" is a fairly regular saying right now. We've had a new grandson born wile I've been off, and that makes 3 under 2yo. This new one has a 16 month old big sister, so it's been great being able to help out there. Mind you 'help out' from me is not a lot of help right now, but I can certainly do cuddles. :-)
When school goes back next week, no doubt the district return-to-work people and the insurance company will be champing at the bit for me to return. To do that, however, I'd need accommodations. I'm pretty sure my boss would prefer that I stay off until I can return and take up almost normal duties. If I had a desk job I could be doing it now, but we all know teaching middle schoolers is not like that. It'll probably be a fortnight or more before I'm sure enough on my feet to be able to walk while also thinking about other things, such as keeping multiple kids on track. I must say, I'm in no great hurry to return. This has been a hint of retirement, especially with us both being off, and I'd love to find a way to hurry on that couple of years we'd been counting on before my husband got the chop.
Hard work, keeping all those properties on the go. What is the problem with the insurance company? Do they suspect you did it yourself?!
Have wonderful travels. Where did you get the idea to visit a sloth sanctuary? Have been watching some videos of those creatures recently - so very sweet and appealing.
The March trip sounds wonderful too.
I admire you learning Navaho. I have difficulty enough recalling school level Spanish, but am determined to go back there and immerse myself once again. LT is now retired and we can save. I am working longer hours to make up, but he has taken on a lot of the home duties - not cleaning, but he does do laundry and cooking. Fabulous! Second Chance is still thriving;-) It's hard work, of course, but rewarding in its own way.
School itself is in a terrible shape, financially. There are cut backs in subjects, staff and responsibility. Not at all sure how anything will be achieved by anyone with no time and no money, but we plod on, still doing our utmost for the students. Every time a new "reorganisation" is announced, we are told it is for the student experience. How any of it actually IS, is beyond me. I am 53 now and have begun to count down to retirement. NEVER thought I would do that. I think getting up early and leaving LT in bed every morning may be one of the factors that lead to it...
Have a wonderful time abroad and at home. keep in touch xx
We are continuing to chat on Monday night...last night we had about 10 people ar one time, some familiar names and a snert LOL and a HS student who aspires to teach 1-3 elementary some day.

Welcome back :-) *Waving at you from the monitor* xx
Haven't heard from her in several years so I Googled her. She is active in Vancouver parades, 5k and other activities. A relative passed away in June 2015 and she was named as a survivor. I've just been thinking of her and worried that something had happened to her.
How're YOU doing, Chloe? Catch us up on the past several months--ever since your sweetie died, we don't know anything!

Very glad to hear you are healing. It will feel so strange putting weight onto that leg now. All the best for your return to work. Will you do it in a staged way or just leap right back in full-time? Good to have heard from you. Hope everyone else is making progress too.

I don't know how I'll return. I have a 'total incapacity' certificate until the first day of term, but I imagine there'll be discussions between the head office 'return to work' person, the principal and me sometime over the holidays. I imagine there's quite a bit of difference between being able to walk OK, and being able to walk, turn, direct students, put out 'fires' in a classroom and still stay safe on my feet. I think head office will want me back at the first, but the school not want me back until the second. I imagine the reality will be somewhere between the two, with a staged entry in some way or other. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying being more mobile.
mmpThanks Bluette with today being a holiday in Canada I totally forgot about the chat. I wonder at times where my mind is since I asked you this question less than 24 h ago........
