I remember only one time in all my years of teaching where I didn't want to go into work and that lasted for months. My situation that caused my down feelings was temporary and things eventually returned to normal. Even then, I don't believe I ever returned totally to the joy and enthusiasm I felt with that job before all the stresses appeared there. I ended up changing schools later.
I know we can't change how others and circumstances oftentimes, but we can change how we react to them. I don't have the answers for you, but if your feelings become chronic and prevent you from enjoying all aspects in your life, it could be time to see a professional. Take care.
I'm still loving retirement. Still loving grandchildren. Still loving eating my plants plants plants. Still reading. Still walking. Still publicizing Habitat builds. Retirement has been sweet.
flackaThis was a great board and while some of us never met, a family/community spirit was so much a part of the Golden Apples. We laughed, we cried, we celebrated, and we supported each other. While we have lost some members, many have moved away from Tnet. I miss the "old days".
ron/njI was looking thru some old pictures, and found one wearing your handmade cape from the Frackville gathering. That was a fun weekend, met some nice teachers. Man, I looked so different w/o any gray hair, LOL. How many years ago was that?

From the same date, I have the birthday list of 45 teachers. It was comprised by Cher.
This reminds me of when we'd exchange gifts with a partner. I still have the cool Scottish blanket I got once for Christmas. It was a long time ago, but I seem to remember it was from Mary/PA.
Elaine/ret/IN to Flacka I also didn't catch the name change, Flacka. Sadly, we don't come to Chicago very often since DD moved to the Big Apple 11 years ago . . . I miss the windy city. I do. At one time, I thought we'd have a Teachers.net meet-up there, but it never materialized. Except for you, of course!

We don't go there much anymore since all of our parents have passed away and our kids moved out. Our DD is also in NYC and our son is in LA so we moved where we wanted to be and visit them when we can.

In May, immediately after turning in Spring semester grades, I'll go in for the next surgery. Doctor and I have agreed that I'll go into a rehab facility, just in case the 2nd knee goes south.
And, the plan is that I'll be teaching July classes...
I've missed you. Your posts were always so interesting, full of information about how you were taking low level college students and working to bring them to a place where they could do college level learning.
It sounds like the past six months or so have been a terrible ordeal for you. Looking up now...here's hoping that the second knee is MUCH easier than the first.
