We have begun a staff yoga time once/week after school. It has helped us in many ways to handle stress, calm ourselves, and take quiet time for ourselves. (And, how often do teachers do THAT?) We love it! One of us has even continued her yoga, and has become a certified yoga instructor! Our minds and our bodies are better for it.
I always bring my own lunch because I tend to overeat if I buy a school lunch. I always have a yogurt and keep exta yogurts and grnola bars in my classroom for an afternoon energizer. Since my classroom is upstairs I always take the stairs two at a time unless I have too much stuff then it's the elevator.

At that time the staff was much older and the middle school gym teacher along with one of the social workers set up a points program. Anyone could join, everyone paid a flat fee and then we had weekly winners for a 6 week period. You got points for working out, using weights, losing weight or inches. It was lots of fun, I remember our team won one week and they gave us coupons to the local Dairy Queen-what a hoot! I had forgotten about that program. I am going to see if we can do something this next school year although most of the people who participated have since retired. On 6/...See MoreSkipping the white stuff is a good idea. I have read it before and you are proof it works.
As a long-time diabetic, sweets are not a big problem for me, but I absolutely love carbs, the white stuff. Carbohydrates are my weakness.
I am going to try to cut back. I know carbs turn into sugar and can raise blood sugar.
