Social websites are a necessity to students in high school. If a teacher uses Facebook, Twitter, etc to inform students of the class such as assignments and test/quizzes that are upcoming. Do you find social websites will be helpful to students or does it make more work for a teacher to update the profile ?

Nope. Facebook is for me to catch up with my family Our school district provides web space for every teacher to have a class website. There's no excuse, really, for teachers to be contacting students on Facebook; "social" and "professional" are two different planets.

cm A course/class website for schedules, notes, assignment outlines, etc. is fine. Don't get into the personal contact thing with any student and limit it with parents to the traditional phone method. No comments/questions/contact. Period.
