Teachers - Summer is finally here. Tell us what you're doing fun or interesting this year. You might win a free Kindle with Wi-Fi just for posting here, so let's hear about your plans!
Karen SchmulbachI plan to and am doing exactly what I want to do-mostly. I plan to relax, rest and get personal stuff done. Our school did not make AYP this year, so I am also "thinking" about what I need to do differently next year. PD is also important since I don't have the time, energy or the "want to" during the year.
Helping my daughters to fulfill their goals. Flying to the East Coast to see the ocean and the beach, and then explore American literature and history.
What is the first thing on your to-do list when school is out? My very first thing every year is cleaning out and organizing my walk-in closet. I like to get rid of all those things I haven't worn and donate to Salvation Army. After that job is done I feel I can then relax and enjoy my break.
J's momI'm with you Martha, Except I don't knit. Then, I go through each room in the house and clean, organize, and generally make up for the nine months of neglect that has happenend. Also, lots of scout camps.
I use spelling city web site to post spelling and reading vocab. words and activities and just use them using my smartboard. Great first thing morning activity for students to do while I take role, collect money or whatever.

This will be my first summer as a teacher. I am a registered nurse and have worked 50 hour work weeks that last few summers. I am looking forward to flower gardening!
N...See MoreWow! A whole day for teachers? Our last day was Tuesday, May 31 and we had students until 1:00. (No recess, no lunch) Our duty day ended at 3:50 so not much time to do anything. It took me 2 days (unpaid) to finish up packing and cleaning my room.
Just took the Assessment Center tests for the National Boards on Friday, June 10!
Now I'm going to read mindless romances for about a week...to disconnect from school and then tackle my house...I need the Clean Sweep team for a couple of weeks!
One day a week I'll pick up my grandson to visit the library...fun summer reading program with events once a week and prizes for number of books read.
One day a week of fun just for me. Any suggestions?
I am a media specialist in a 5th - 6th grade building. I would LOVE to be able to show my students firsthand how to use a brand new KINDLE!! Hope it's my lucky day!!
