Hi all, I had a teaching assistant (part time) last year who intends to return to my classroom this year. I discovered that she was pretty terrible last year (embellished on her resume) and had zero skills and weak academic skills herself in addition to being visually impaired (but she can see well enough to work), and having a pretty significant learning disability. She doesn't have any work experience and last year was really her first job (she is mid-30's). I partially blamed myself and felt that I should have been more explicit with my directions for her and my expectations for her. I was thinking of creating a more explicit schedule for her along with a more explicit job description and task description. I felt frustrated last year because she becomes confused quickly and has an overall weak understanding of what she needs to do in my classroom. Any other ideas??!! Thanks!
