I was accepted into Drexel's online MLS program (there are no schools with this program near me). I have worked briefly as a library clerk and enjoyed it. However, I really enjoy children, and I feel that it would be so rewarding to instill the love of reading into kids, so for these reasons I am considering getting my degree in media specialist. (I have no prior teaching experience). But after reading a lot of posts on here about the future of this career and the lack of jobs, I'm a little scared. So, if there's anyone out there that has worked both as a public librarian and then became a media specialist (or vice versa), can you please tell me 1)which position you liked better and why, 2) which position made you feel the most fulfilled, rewarded, and why, and 3)what advice can you give me about these jobs? I want brutal honesty please. Thanks so much in advance.
