I teach 2nd grade and I have started a book club students can attend during lunch. I have a great amount of students who have signed up and I need to think of a great book to start out the club with. Most of my students are advanced 2nd grade readers! Any suggestions for interesting text for the students. I appreciate all responses!!

Ralph S Mouse A Mouse Called Wolf Frekle Juice Marvin Redpost Trickster Ghost Haunted House of course The Hundred Dresses amongst a few other
These were not only advanced students, but any student who wanted to give it a go...they could read it to themselves, have it read to them, or even listen to it on tape, they were responsible for getting the words in their heads so that when it came to discussion time they were all prepared.
I then had them put the books away and asked interpretive questions (no right/wrong, not AR type) to draw higher level thinking responses from what they had read.
Good luck !

I used this book with my class last year and have made questions for each chapter of the book 'Flipped' by Wendelin Van Draanen. I will submit them in a Chapter by Chapter submission for those of you who are interested. Feel free to copy/ alter/ modify, etc. I hope it is helpful.
