My far-below and below basic 7th and 8th graders -at least 2 years below grade level- just completed Jack London's 'The Call of the Wild' with LOTS and LOTS of scaffolding and I want to follow-up with an essay. I am looking for writing ideas beyond a response to literature essay, since my students have already done this type of essay for another novel. For this essay, I also want to avoid a research essay at this time, due to limited access & time issues.

Does anyone have good ideas for a relatively easy to grasp essay idea -persuasive, maybe?

Thanks in advance for your ideas
