Why do I learn math?

I am writing an argument essay on if math is worth the time and effort in learning. ~Does it benifit you in the long run for any future job that you want? ~Why are we taught things that are not going to be useful? ~What are we likely to use in math? ~Why do we have to learn Algebra 2 when we can have the opertunities to learn by taking a Buisness Class(where a student may learn about how to correctly do taxes or a good bank account), or even a Real World Problems Class(Where students would do real world problems).

Kaylee, This question has been asked by students since the beginning of time. Math is a sequential topic. It helps you to think analytically. It helps you pay attention to detail, which most people cannot do. This question shows laziness on your part. Nothing in life comes easy. Math does not allow shortcuts. Students must understand A before moving on to B, understand A and B before moving on to C, etc. By the way, you use algebra everyday whether you know it or not. You go to the grocery store to buy two items and the total is $12.55. One item is $6.99, what is the price for the other item? Let x = the other item. So, x + 6.99 = 12.55.
