Start a new discussion...
I was able to participate in a new teacher induction program. I was given a substitute teacher on 4-5 occasions to meet with a mentor, the two of us went to observe a master teacher together, the mentor observed my teaching and we met to discuss, and I was able to attend 3 professional dev. day having to do with classroom management mostly.

The mentor/mentee relationship was confidential which I really needed in this mess of politics and trying to get and keep a job. Just being able to talk freely was so nice. I really benefitted from that program and think that was money well spent.

Any others with good stories?
Tallytchr Our school has a designated Mentor (with a paid stipend) and while this person is a good friend of mine and a very wonderful teacher...I always thought a mentor teacher should be on the same grade level as the beginning teacher.

There are many things a mentor teacher can help with but the beginning teacher really needs help with day to day...See More
