Hello,

Do any of you keep any non traditional Montessori materials in your class (self-made stuff) IN ADDITION to the standard materials as a means of an extension to Maria's materials/lessons?

PT I do. I make a lot of my own materials. I try to extend the lessons as far as they will go

CS Ok, I do too. The kids in my primary class last year would always use the traditional materials first properly, then I used the non-mont works as extensions. I have seen good improvement in relevant skills that way.

CS I have made tracing cards with black & white outlines to help them follow through tracing complex curves or straight lined shapes following the metal insets.

I have made charts with numerals 1-20 to reinforce units & teen numbers from 1-20.
