Hello, I am at a loss with what to do with one of our newest three year old boys. He is a pincher/puncher! He will approach a child, unprovoked, and pinch their cheeks in a harsh, violent way or punch at another child for no apparent reason. I am trying my hardest to observe when this happens the most (usually during transition times) and feel completey un-Montessori and too authoritarian when I tell him he must stay with me and not move. However, the safety and well being of the other children are being compromised. I have told the mother about these events and am sensing I must call an official meeting. Other parents are beginning to ask me about this child... Has anyone gone through a similar experience? Have you ever dis- enrolled a student do to this type of behavior if it does not improve? Thanks so much.

You must keep this child near you and sometimes it's a matter of staying near him! (you or your assistant). These are the children that need our guidance the most. Also you can sit him...See More
