In Queensland, Australia, we have rural primary schools
where one teacher is responsible for teaching 8 grades
across 8 subject areas. We do not qualify for a second
teacher until enrolments reach 26 students. Students ages
can vary from 5 years to 13 years in the one classroom.
The teacher is also responsible for administration of the
school. We have a full time assistant, but she is not a
trained teacher. Am interested to hear what readers would
consider to be the impact on childrens learning in this
multi-age situation?
