Hello! I am currently a Substitute Teacher and a long term Physical Education Teacher one day a week. I also have a second job in retail. By no later than this fall, I plan on getting a new second job to replace my retail job. Does anyone have some good ideas for jobs and websites I can look for these types of jobs? Thanks!
I am looking for advice from anyone who has recently renewed their national board certification in early to middle childhood Physical Education or is in the process.
I am also looking for someone to mentor me through the process; have had no luck! Maybe we can assist one another or at least bounce thoughts/ideas off each other?
I am student teaching PE at a Texas high school this summer and one of my assignments is to supervise "open gym" for basketball games. My supervisor has encouraged me to join in the games, which is fine with me as a former basketball player.
The only problem is, I get extremely hot and sweaty by the time the afternoon is over and have an evening class right after that to attend. There is no locker room for the teachers/coaches and my supervisor has said feel free to uses the student facility which is a large community shower and locker room.
I am 19 and no one seems to care or notice as at the end of the session there are usually 10 to 25 students showering and changing. I would rather not got to class soaked in sweat, but am not sure what the most appropriate way to handle this may be. BTW, my supervisor is the assistant basketbal coach and in her late 20's and also uses the student shower. Doesn't seem to be a problem . . .
I was curious about what you were wearing that made you look like a student? Did you protest when the teacher told you to take down your pants? I imagine getting it on the bare would be embarassing, and as bad as the spanking itself.
Did anyone else witness the spanking, or did anyone find out about it later? Thanks for sharing.
I totally understand your decision. Being mistaken for a student is bad, being mistaken for a student doing something that you shouldn't be doing that threatens your job is worse. Better to take the spanking, bad as it might have been!

And several new or student teachers have described taking a paddling so they would have experienced corporal punishment in the event they were ever to administer it, send students to be paddled, or witness paddlings.
If I try to seek re-employment from one of the districts I used to teach for, do I disclose that I am taking medication for manic-depression that I was not taking during my previous tenure with them?
Do you want the job? If you want the job, do not disclose - unless you were terminated for behavior or issues that were related to your illness and you would need to convince them that there won't be a repeat - in that case, disclosure might help you.
That said, if later they find out you are m-d on meds and you did not disclose - I don't think they can't fire you but they will likely be very, very unhappy with you and the situation.
We are about the have an all day PJ day at my elementary school. I am in need of some ideas for games to play in the Gym that involve the theme of PJ's. Thanks in advance!
From Susan: I have similar students. I have tried many strategies to keep my students engaged and on task. Of course, the lessons are planned and protocol is set and expected but to keep students focused I use clothes pins and 5 minutes for free time. Below is how it works: When a student is listening and following directions or contributes in someway to the class or is kind to someone else, I put a clothes pin on their shirt. At the end of the lesson, I save 5 minutes for free time and I pick the 3 or 4 things for free time. (shooting hoops; jump rope; hula hoops; scooters etc-I change the free time activities each week). I also take away clothes pins if a student is not listening or mis-using equipment etc. At the end of the lesson, the sts line up, i collect the pins and the sts pick the activity they want to play. The students who did not earn free time meet with me and discuss ways they can improve and then I usually give them one minute of free time. all the best
