Help-Social Studies teacher teaching PE

I am middle school social studies teacher and was just told that next year I will be teaching one class of 8th grade boys PE. This is not my first year teaching, but my first year at this school, so I don't even know what their PE classes are like. Does anyone have any advice for me. What about general rules, procedures, policies, etc. for a PE class. I am kind of at a point where I am not sure what questions to ask. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
