showers after practice for student teacher

Hi--

I am student teaching PE at a Texas high school this summer and one of my assignments is to supervise "open gym" for basketball games. My supervisor has encouraged me to join in the games, which is fine with me as a former basketball player.

The only problem is, I get extremely hot and sweaty by the time the afternoon is over and have an evening class right after that to attend. There is no locker room for the teachers/coaches and my supervisor has said feel free to uses the student facility which is a large community shower and locker room.

I am 19 and no one seems to care or notice as at the end of the session there are usually 10 to 25 students showering and changing. I would rather not got to class soaked in sweat, but am not sure what the most appropriate way to handle this may be. BTW, my supervisor is the assistant basketbal coach and in her late 20's and also uses the student shower. Doesn't seem to be a problem . . .

Curious about Jennifer's Story Hi Jennifer!

Not sure if you're still reading this thread, but did the teacher realize you weren't a student, or did she not particularly care?

Did she intercept you after you dressed (where you would have access to your identification) or did you get it wearing nothing but a towel?

Did any of the other students or teachers see what was happening, and vouch for you, or mention it later? Sounds plenty embarrassing!

Audrey I actually had a similar experience while student teaching. I was late one morning and parked in the teacher's lot. As soon as I got out of the car, I was "busted" by the female track coach who was parking lot monitor. She escorted me to the locker room and then paddled me (5 licks on the bare buttocks) with few questions asked. As soon as I got out of the car, I was "busted" by the female track coach who was parking lot monitor. She escorted me to the locker room and then paddled me (5 licks on the bare buttocks) with few questions asked. I was 21 at the time, but also looked young. I didn't speak up because if I'd been reported as a student teacher, I could have gotten an F in the student teaching class.

I was curious about what you were wearing that made you look like a student? Did you protest when the teacher told you to take down your pants? I imagine getting it on the bare would be embarassing, and as bad as the spanking itself.

I totally understand your decision. Being mistaken for a student is bad, being mistaken for a student doing something that you shouldn't be doing that threatens your job is worse. Better to take the spanking, bad as it might have been!

And several new or student teachers have described taking a paddling so they would have experienced corporal punishment in the event they were ever to administer it, send students to be paddled, or witness paddlings.
