Good news for people who hate choosing!

In over 1300 counties, people will not have to worry about choosing their Obamacare health insurance provider. That's how many will have only one insurer in the exchange.

Almost 50 will have it even worse and have no insurance options.

But hey, at least the average premium has gone up 21.6%.

When will both sides work together and try to fix this bad bill that was rammed through congress?

The carriers have explicitly stated one reason that premiums go up is because there is disruption in the marketplace, for example, when Trump proclaims he's not going to pay the bill for the coverage of poor people, like he did this week. Make no mistake - Trump's antics this week are forcing YOUR premiums to rise.

The average premium has increased ZERO dollars for the third year in a row, for people who have subsidies. I don't know if you have subsidies, but think about what that means - for people who were least able to afford health insurance (and didn't qualify for Medicaid) their insurance premiums increase zero for three straight years. Now you may not think that's important, but I'd suggest by the way you keep insisting rates ARE exploding, that you recognize exactly how important that is. Now multiply that importance by the fact that these people are the most unable to afford premium increases.

Yeah, you're starting to get it.

The Democrats have an idea to insure that EVERY marketplace has at least one carrier in their exchange. It's called the public option. And the public option will be competitive, if for no other reason because in group plans, economy of scale kick in, and the public option will likely end up with more insured than any other single carrier.

Finally, the early rate of premium adjustment was primarily because some carriers entered the marketplace and set their premiums too low. According to analysts, that "shock" to the system (by some, not all) has worn off, because the carriers now better understand the different markets, and the number of healthy patients entering is more predictable.

Note again that the number of healthy insured affects the rates for everyone. When Trump refuses to run promotional campaigns that the government has run to ensure enrollment during the open enrollment, again, his antics are DIRECTLY increasing your costs.

That is not leadership. I can't understand why you think that's good for you, or why you would support someone who would hurt you for his own benefit. Psychologists call this co-dependency, and I've never understood it. I guess understanding has nothing to do with it, though, so I won't ask you to explain.

Hang in there, Tim. The adults are going to pick up the pieces when Trump finishes his natural term, or is run out sooner in disgrace. We'll probably survive Trump. And things will get better. Hang in there, Tim.

EasTexSteve The real joke in all of this is that you think the dems in congress passed obamacare because they were looking out for the little guy. In reality, they only passed obamacare so they and their employees and families could get the 73 percent subsidy that was put in the bill specifically for them.
