My principal has begun to toss around the term "standards based classroom" and is hinting that it will be included in our school improvement plan for next year. I'm not sure about the definition of this term and would like to hear from anyone who is familiar with it. Thanks!

You know, I have the same question! It would seem that being able to quote the standard is not enough to raise test scores. But it's what we are asked to do, so I hang the hoops and we jump!

sincere We are a standards based district...and the implementation of the curriculum varies greatly from school to school...here the final decisions are "up to the principal" for implementation

Teach I'm definitely not against teaching to the standards. I write the standard on the board before each lesson. (My district has schools piloting SBRC but my school is not one of the pilot schools). As far as I know, I'm the only teacher in our school that displays the standards.
