Do private schools accept student teaching assginments?
Dave Often times no. Student teaching assignments are usually based on agreements with large public school districts. Though there are exceptions.

Zodea I teach at a private Catholic High School in Iowa. We occasionally get student teachers. We also get a lot of students in for 5 or 25 hour observations. Strangely enough the social studies department has seen far more student teachers then the science department.

PsyGuy Here in Texas its not uncommon at all for students to do some or all of there observation at a private school, in fact its a common compare/contrast approach used for a paper to compare public school and private school. I don't know of any colleges/universities that place student teachers in private schools for student teaching EXCEPT when the scho...See More
