I'm not happy with the curriculum in my schooldistrict. Also, although there's a huge emphasis on leteracy, all I've seen the kids do is read silently from a book packet, have a whole-class mini-lesson, do writing responses, have readers' workshop (wher they read silently , read in a small group, discuss a story, work on some strategies, etc). In other words, I'm not impressed....most parents can do that at home. I see no science ...hands on activities like experiments, etc. In Social Studies, again, it's just readoing from a book. No stimulating discussions, debates, hands-on activities, etc. In math, it's the same thing. My children are bright and I want to see them learning to their full potential....I want them to be thinking outside the box and learning by discovery. What could I expect from a Catholic School? Would I see any difference, or just the same old thing?

Finding the school that meets the specific needs of your child and your expectations is very impor...See More

We go above and beyond these state standards and include social justice in all subjects. Look at a private school's core curriculum and see if it matches the state ...See More
