I've been teaching sociology at a community college for 3 years. I've taught Soc 101 (intro) and Soc 104 (Social Problems). My issue is that I feel these classes are VERY similar, and I'm looking for ideas on how to teach them differently. My Soc 104 does look at some different issues than 101, and it is a service learning course, but for some of the same topics I'm having a block on new angles to look at the issue from/new activities for students. I also have more and more students who were in my 101 enrolling in my 104, which puts more pressure on me to change it up. Any help suggestions would be appreciated.
