I am a lateral entry 7th grade reading teacher. I am currently reading Harry Wong's "First Days" and have created a powerpoint of procedures and rules for my classs. My concern is that I have no clue what to do after that! I've heard talk of AR but how do I begin this program? Also, what is the best way to become acquainted with middle school books? Any and all responses are much appreciated.
Mae in Texas rocedures - Teach one procedure at a time as you come to it. Model it, practice it, review it.

AR - Don't bother with it unless you have to.

rhonda I'm a retired teacher and just for fun this summer I read a book called Schooled by Gordon Korman. It's about a boy who was raised in a commune and enrolls in 8th Grade.
