Start a new discussion...
Was in a heated discussion with a fellow elementary colleague on the place of whole class instruction in the literacy program. I won't say which side I am on as I really want an unbiased opinion from you. Working with small groups or individuals (differentiation and meeting the needs of the individual). Whole class instruction and particularly sharing together of similar text (means work on similar standard). What are your thoughts? One of us thinks one of these strategies should be the complete LA curriculum and the other thinks it should be mixed.
Mark Pennington Whatever is most efficient. Whole class makes sense for some instruction. Small group/individualized for differentiated instruction based upon diagnostic/formative assessment data.
