I heard an interview with Arne Duncan, the new Sec. of Ed., saying that he will soon drop NCLB the way it is and start a new initiative where education is more controlled by National standards across all 50 states and that there will be less micromanaging of teachers in the classroom. He says that as long as teachers are showing good progress with their students, and testing results are good, they will have much more creative freedom in their classrooms. Yay for Arne Duncan!! I hope this pans out in favor of GOOD teachers for a change. Your thoughts on this, anyone?
Sharon I hope this is true. Reading First was a HORRIBLE idea & NCLB - while perhaps initiated with good intentions - was totally, totally horrible, too!

YEA!!!!!!!

Chloe_teachK Well, I hope this is true, but remember Arnie wants to extend the school day and year. I think the kids and I work hard enough as it is. I hope he's not planning a trade: NCLB for even more hours of work...
