I am about to be certified in secondary social studies and will be looking for a job when I am done with my student teaching after this fall. I am not tied to any area in the United States and am willing to go anywhere and look anywhere for a teaching position.

I can't help you with your top tens, though I will tell you that school districts across the nation are laying off teachers. As a social studies teacher, I will tell you that Social Studies is not at all a high needs area and your best bet is to try to add on another endorsement to make yourself more marketable.
