Our district is redoing their identification process for the Title I program. It was suggested that the teachers simply use the AIMSweb benchmarks for identification; however, we are not certain this is proper since AIMSweb is strictly for oral reading fluency and Title 1/Reading Improvement works more on reading comprehension strategies. Therefore, our means of identification would not really be matching our program focus. We have used Gates-MacGinitie in the past, though several administrators as well as a RtI consultant that the district hired have suggested doing away with this assessment and only using AIMSweb to reduce time spent assessing students. We need help. Any suggestions or ideas? What do other schools/district use for student identification for Title or other reading programs?

I agree that AIMS web and DIBELS are not the best assessments to test comprehension. The retell fluency on the DIBELS is not a reliable means to test comprehension. Marie Hi Nicole, Nicole, Thanks for responding. No links showed up. I did a search, but didn't really find much about specifics. How long does this take to administer?
